Tip #3

We recommend a one-page resume. You will have a chance to speak more to your accomplishments and experiences through an interview process.

  • Dress as you would for a live or in-person interview, generally business professional. Check out the people on our careers site if you have questions.
  • Take your interview in a quiet space, free from distraction and with good lighting (avoid bright lights behind you). You will need a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and a microphone (computer, tablet or mobile phone). Make sure your battery is sufficiently charged.
  • Familiarize yourself with the interview, including video setup and system testing. Practice until you feel comfortable. You will be given time to prepare before each question and at least one chance to re-record your answer if needed.
  • Relax and be yourself – we look forward to learning more about you!

How will I know if I was selected for an interview?
If you are selected for an on-demand recorded interview, you will receive the invitation via email. Unfortunately, given the volume of applicants, we are not able to inform applicants that are not selected for an on-demand recorded interview.

What does the interview process look like?
Interviewing with Piper Sandler typically begins with an on-demand recorded interview powered by HireVue, followed by final interviews where you will meet with multiple members of the team you are applying with. If selected for an on-demand recorded interview, make sure you complete it at your earliest convenience (or by the due date in your emailed invitation). Once complete, professionals within the business group that you are applying with will review your video interview and reach out with next steps.

When will I hear back after an interview?
After all interviews, either on-demand recorded or live, we aim to have a hiring decision for you as soon as possible, and generally try to give you an update within two weeks.

What is the format of the interviews?
At Piper Sandler, we used competency-based interview questions to find out how you have used specific skills in your previous experience and how you approach problems, tasks and challenges. We are looking to see how these experiences align with our values and culture. Depending on which position you are interviewing for, the interview may also consist of a group of technical questions.

Why do you use on-demand recorded interviews (powered by HireVue)?
The on-demand recorded interview gives us the opportunity to get to know you early on in a way that a traditional recruitment process doesn’t allow. In addition, it ensures a consistent start to all of our recruitment processes, including the opportunity for candidates to learn more about our firm through a video created specifically for the on-demand recorded interview experience. Finally, it allows our candidates to complete the first step in our process at a time and place that is convenient for them.
